Green Living and Energy Education, or "GLEE," is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization with a mission to educate "individuals, businesses, and policymakers within the Florida Keys community to promote sustainable living through efficient and renewable energy and the conservation of water and land resources."
GLEE is a partnership comprised of the following businesses, utilities and government agencies: South Florida Water Management District, Florida Keys Electric Cooperative, Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority, Callahan Communications, The Nature Conservancy, Middle Keys Community Land Trust, First State Bank, The Keynoter, Reporter and Keys Sunday newspapers, Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail, UF/IFAS/Monroe County Extension, and others. Our goal is to attract individuals, organizations and like businesses to support our cause and commit their effort by a donation or services-in-kind.
Over 3,000 residents and visitors attended the second Florida Keys Green Living and Energy Expo at Stanley Switlik School in Marathon in March 2007. They visited more than 50 exhibitors and listened to some 50 speakers, who led workshops on sustainability. In recognition of the public’s interest in and need for sustainability in the Florida Keys and in light of our success, we pledged to stage the event bi-annually. The third Florida Keys Green Living and Energy Education Expo will be a 3 day event from May 9-11, 2008 at the Marathon High School, Sombrero Beach Road, Marathon.
The 2008 Expo will be free to the public, including 28 workshops and forums. An active exhibitor area with over sixty vendors will be free to enter. We will pay for our expenses through our vendor booth fees, T-shirt sales, and sponsorships. We expect approximately 5000to attend over the 3 day period.
We invite you to support us as a sponsor of the 2008 Green Living & Energy Education Expo by filling out the sponsor form and indicating your category of support.
